The new LEGO Speed Champions 77264 Jaguar Project 7 & Land Rover Defender is an interesting double pack because the two vehicles could hardly be more different.
One is a low, fast sports car built around performance and racing style. The other is a tall, rugged off-roader designed around adventure and utility. That contrast is exactly what makes this 740-piece set stand out.

What Makes LEGO 77264 Different?
Most LEGO Speed Champions double packs pair cars that share a racing category, manufacturer or design philosophy.
LEGO 77264 takes a different approach. The Jaguar Project 7 and Land Rover Defender represent two completely different sides of British motoring.
For me, that gives the set more visual variety than two similar supercars. Put the models next to each other and neither disappears into the background.
Jaguar Project 7 - The Performance Side
The Jaguar is the more traditional Speed Champions model in the box.
It has the low profile, racing graphics and prominent rear wing that immediately communicate speed. The special stripes and Jaguar details help distinguish it from more generic sports-car builds.
Based on the official images, the proportions work particularly well from the side. The long hood and compact rear section give the car the right kind of aggressive stance.
Land Rover Defender - The More Unusual Model
The Defender may actually be the more interesting build because Speed Champions is still dominated by sports cars, hypercars and race cars.
Here we get a tall off-road vehicle with large wheels, roof rack, ladder and adventure equipment.
Those features create a completely different silhouette. It should also make the Defender stand out immediately in a display full of low-slung racing cars.
Two Cars, Two Completely Different Building Experiences
This is probably the biggest advantage of the set.
The Jaguar requires the builders to recreate smooth sports-car lines and aerodynamic details, while the Defender is boxier, taller and more functional in appearance.
Because of that, building the second car should not feel like simply repeating the first one with a different color scheme.
Which Model Is More Interesting?
For pure Speed Champions tradition, I would say the Jaguar fits the theme more naturally.
But from a collector’s perspective, the Defender may be the model that gives the set its personality. There are already many LEGO racing cars, while detailed off-roaders remain much less common in this scale.
That contrast is one of the main reasons I find this double pack more appealing than two nearly identical performance cars.
2 Driver Minifigures
Each vehicle gets its own driver, which is exactly what a two-car Speed Champions set needs.
The Jaguar driver is themed around the Project 7, while the Defender driver has a more adventure-focused appearance.
That may seem like a small detail, but separate drivers help each vehicle feel like its own complete model rather than half of a larger package.
Display Value
This set should work particularly well on display because the cars have such different proportions.
The low Jaguar and tall Defender create more visual contrast than two supercars parked side by side.
If you already have a large Speed Champions collection, I think the Defender is especially useful because it breaks up the long line of race cars and adds something visually different to the shelf.
Play Value
The set is also flexible for play.
The Jaguar can be used for road and racing stories, while the Defender naturally fits off-road adventures, expeditions or rescue scenarios.
That gives younger builders two separate themes in one box rather than forcing both cars into the same kind of story.
Why a Double Pack Can Make Sense
Some collectors prefer buying individual Speed Champions cars because they can choose exactly which models they want.
But double packs have one major advantage: they can offer a more varied building session.
In LEGO 77264, that variety is especially obvious. The second car does not feel like an accessory to the first. Both are substantial models with completely different personalities.
What I Like Most About LEGO 77264
For me, the strongest feature is the contrast between performance and adventure.
The Jaguar represents speed, racing and aerodynamic design. The Defender represents utility, off-road capability and exploration.
That makes the set feel less repetitive than many automotive double packs.
I also like the choice of the Defender because it expands what a Speed Champions collection can look like instead of simply adding another exotic sports car.
Possible Downsides
The biggest potential issue is also connected to the two-car format.
Someone who loves the Jaguar but has no interest in Land Rover, or vice versa, has to buy both models.
The Defender is also very different from the classic Speed Champions formula. Collectors who want their shelves filled exclusively with race and performance cars may find it slightly out of place.
And as usual with this scale, the models prioritize recognizable exterior styling over complex mechanical functions. If you want steering, suspension or working engines, LEGO Technic is the better theme.
Who Is LEGO 77264 Best For?
This set should appeal especially to British car fans and collectors who want more variety in their Speed Champions garage.
It also makes sense for families because two substantial vehicles can be built and played with separately.
For builders who enjoy sharing the construction process, the LEGO Builder app and Build Together functionality add another option for building the set with someone else.
How Does It Fit Into a Speed Champions Collection?
The Jaguar should sit naturally next to Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Lamborghini or McLaren models.
The Defender is the wild card.
Rather than blending into a racing grid, it gives the collection something taller and more rugged. Personally, I think that is a strength, especially if you already own many low sports cars that begin to look similar when displayed together.
Land Rover Defender Size
The Land Rover Defender measures approximately 9 cm high, 17 cm long and 8 cm wide.
Its height is one of the reasons it should look so different next to typical Speed Champions cars.
My Take on LEGO Speed Champions 77264
Based on the official images and features, LEGO 77264 looks like one of the more varied Speed Champions double packs.
The Jaguar is likely to appeal immediately to traditional car enthusiasts, while the Defender gives the set something unexpected.
The biggest strength is that both vehicles justify their place in the box. They are not two variations of the same idea.
The main question is whether you actually want both types of vehicle. If you do, this combination should offer a more interesting build and display than a pair of very similar racing cars.
For me, the Defender is the model that makes this particular set memorable, while the Jaguar provides the classic Speed Champions experience.
